Facebook groups are the latest and greatest way to build a community for your business. However, as great as they are, you also have to be sure to protect yourself from what legally could happen to you.
Yes, it's not a lot of fun to think about. However, by putting precautions in place now, you could save yourself a lot of headaches down the line.
What kind of rules are you making? Be specific, so like a promo day, don’t just say the day it is. Also say what kind of promo it is. You want to let people know if...
I have been blessed to have found Periscope for many reasons, but one of them is the incredible people I have met. Through that and because of a weekly entrepreneur book club I run, someone suggested the book "The Big Leap" by Gay Hendricks. What was ironic was the week before we read "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho, and they talk about basically the same thing.
In "The Big Leap" it’s referred to as the Zone of Genius.
In "The Alchemist", it’s referred to as your Personal Legend.
What they both mean, is that thing you were put on earth to do. That thing that is your gift. That thing you absolutely know you should be doing, but you have convinced yourself that other things are more important.
It could be that you believed making money right away was more important, and that you would go back to your ‘thing’ later. Maybe it’s kids, and when they grow up, you’ll revisit it. Maybe you have become so far removed because a while back you convinced...
Live streaming is the newest rave in business, and I can speak from personal experience that it's a game changer! There are many ways you can utilize the likes of Periscope and Meerkat to build your business, and I thought I would bring the Digital Strategist, Brian Fanzo to help break it all down. We cover which one you should spend your time on, how often you should stream, and how to use this new incredible tool to transform your business.
What exactly is live streaming and how can you utilize it for business? Live streaming isn't new, but what is new is the mobile aspect of live streaming. There are two apps that have come onto the market in the last few months; Meerkat and Periscope. What they allow you to do is by one press of one button, and simply putting out a tweet or title, you're actually able to push out a link to the global world where they can now access the camera on your phone. What's ground breaking is that it has pulled into...
Sabina Hitchen has a long history of PR, and I was so excited when she agreed to come on the show to discuss how we should start pitching ourselves like the pros do. In this podcast, she teaches us how to dissect our favorite magazines, and how to get featured in some of today's largest magazines!
Step #1: Figure out what the magazine stands for. Do you know what their mission statement is? Go to the magazine's website (you can look via the publishing house's site). They will give you a run down of what the magazine describes itself. Get in the mindset of the magazine. Also read the Letter From the Editor section to understand what they're about.
Step #2: Head over to the front of the magazine and read the page that lists all of the people who are working there. The most important people are at the top, and you'll more than likely be avoiding those. However, what you want to do is figure out your niche/beat and look to the section...
By now you should know that video can add tremendous value to your business. However, there's so much more to it than just posting a video on YouTube every now and then. Video adds a personal touch, and allows people to feel more connected to you.
Holly Gillen of Holly G Studios gave some incredible ideas of how you can use video to take your business to a whole new level.
Live Events - Use video if you're attending or speaking at live events.
I can't get enough of stories like this. Cynthia Jamin had an idea and a dream. There was no design experience behind it, but she knew what she wanted to build. So she took a class, and started from there. She met the contacts she needed and kept taking one step in front of the other!
The story behind her business is pretty incredible too, as Cynthia suffered some pretty big pain in her childhood. Going back to the main core that girls just want to feel beautiful, she formed Twirly Girl (TwirlyGirlShop.com) as a way to create dressed that make every girl beautiful (and now women too)!
Your business started from an inheritance, and you had no design experience. Where did you begin? Before she had that money, she had secured the Trademark because there was something in the name she loved. Even at the very beginning, she still had the feeling it was something to explore. She also felt lucky that she didn't have the pressure of...
I'm talking this Tip Tuesday and sharing:
Are you on Periscope? Be sure to follow me @thestartersclub! Also share your info in the comments!
Unfortunately, in the online world this tend to exists more than it should. However, there are two things that you really need to avoid, which are copying and comparing.
Social media has been an incredible way to stay connected and grow my business, but it can also be a bad thing. People have false ideas of what others' reality is like due to social media. You can run a Facebook and look pretty awesome to those who know you just because you constantly keep showing up in their feed. You have to understand that people are showing you their best versus their behind the scenes.
Businesses tend to make things look a lot better than they are, and you can't keep comparing yourself. You have to do what's best for you. Put your head down, and do your best in order to get your business moving.
The other C-word is copying. It really is important, even though everyone says it. Yes, you need to not re-create the wheel every time. However,...
Daniele Hargenrader has an incredible story. At 9 she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, a diagnosis that completely rocked her family. Then just three years later, her father died suddenly. Daniele became depressed, and let food take over as she grew to almost 200 pounds. Between dealing with her father's death and dealing with the 'gloom and doom' of diabetes, she let it all get the best of her.
It was when she was 19 she decided her life needed to change. She did a lot of reading and studying on diabetes and nutrition. She had a lot of knowledge on it, and decided to start applying it. There were two things that really made her begin her journey to turn things around. Daniele states: 'The person I was showing the world physically was not the person who I felt I was on the inside. Second, it was my personal choices that I was making that were actually killing me.'
[ctt tweet=" It was my personal choices that I was making...
I was so happy when The Audacity Coach, Jennie Mustafa-Julock, joined me to talk about a topic that every entrepreneur suffers from, that nagging inner voice. Jennie has kindly named her Hilda, and in this interview we talked about who Hilda is, why she always seems to show up, and what we can do to get rid of her once and for all!
Who is Hilda and what she does in our every day lives? Hilda is the voice that creeps in your head when you start actually moving down a path that could push you forward. She's the nagging naysayer that convinces you, you shouldn't take a chance because after all, what happens when you fail?
You have to figure out who this voice is because it's not you. Yes, it's in your head, but you can't let it get the best of you.
We all assume we're the only ones suffering from a Hilda, yet every single person has a Hilda. It's easy to feel that you're the only one hearing this cautionary crap in your brain, but you're not.
Get on the list, and we'll send you info when we open our next challenge!
