48 - Liz Scully Talks Business Coaching and Masterminds

Liz Scully is a Business and Mastermind Coach with Rethink Central.   She had a background in film, and spent 20 years in the industry.  She worked in the post production, and was running a team of people.  What she discovered it wasn’t so much about management, but more of problem solving.

After 20 years, and really long hours, she discovered that she just couldn’t do it anymore.  She decided to set-up a business that would bring in another revenue stream, and slowly work into that.

She started Re-think retreats, which was like a yoga retreat.  She initially discovered great venues and wonderful coaches, and trained as a coach herself so she could hire people.  As she did this, it wasn’t filling up with people, she decided to learn more about internet marketing.

She has found that when most entrepreneurs hit a problem, they stop.  In film they learned that there’s always going to be a problem, but you just...

46 - Mimika Cooney Talks Entrepreneurship, Creativity, and Motherhood

Mimika Cooney was born and raised in South Africa. In 1994, upon high school graduation, her world opened when Nelson Mandela came into power. Prior to that, South Africans were isolated from the rest of the world and did not have access to the conveniences of modern technology,  e.g., television and the Internet.

Fast forward a few years, Mimika got married and was working as a Television Production Assistant. However, she and her husband were both entrepreneurial minded and realized the Internet was going to be the next biggest thing. The Cooneys became determined to develop an Internet-based business.

During the first few years of the marriage, they worked round-the-clock keeping their day jobs then devoting evenings to their budding Internet business. The self-taught website developers began helping other business owners to market themselves through website development. As their Internet marketing business grew successful, it afforded them the ability to quit  their...

44 - Kathy Stowell of Bliss Beyond Naptime

Kathy Stowell is the 'Founder and Chief Midwife' of Mama Bliss Coaching School and The Bliss Beyond Naptime Podcast, and she's all about helping MOMpreneurs find their purpose and get their start in business.

What gave you the idea to help other mom’s start their own business? Kathy’s creative juices began to flow quite by accident. She sought the help of a family acupuncturist for a “deep wound cleaning” to help heal past familial issues in order become the healthiest version of herself both emotionally and physically as she prepared for her upcoming marriage and eventual motherhood.

Kathy’s acupuncturist encouraged her to express herself creatively every day and thus began her journey of healing, evolving and helping others. Admittedly, this exercise turned he into a “creative monster” as she began painting, sewing, knitting etc. and eventually starting a blog to document her crafting.

After she and her...

43 - Tip Tuesday - Automating Your Business With Christian Psencik

Christian is an IT person by trade, and he loves technology, and after starting his own business, he was finding that there wasn’t enough of him to go around.  So he started to set-up his own automated systems.  In his own words, he likes to have ‘the internet robots go and do his bidding’.  Christian had an ‘ah-ha’ moment when he found out that some of his systems were what a lot of other entrepreneurs were paying their VA’s to do.

What’s the first tool that you would recommend?  One of the most flexible and basic tools is a tool called If This Then That.  It allows you to connect two internet systems together, so for example, Evernote and Dropbox or Twitter and Facebook.

One thing Christian does is instead of writing down all of his ideas.  He has an If This, Then That rule set-up where if he comes up with an idea, he tells ‘Siri’, and then she adds it to the end of a specific note in...

42 - Tracy Matthews Tells Us About Her Entrepreneur Journey and Juggling Two Businesses

Tracy Matthews is the owner of Tracy Matthews Custom Jewelry, and the co-founder of Flourish & Thrive Academy.   Tracy started designing jewelry when she was about 21.  After taking a class, she realized that it was her purpose and passion to create jewelry in the world.

She worked retail in college and learned the sales side and expertise.  Then she was selling some her own jewelry to her friends

She launched her first business is 1998.  At that point the only business people did with jewelry was through wholesale.  After about 8 years in business, she became really unhappy, and then a year after, the economy crashed, and then she closed down her business.  She decided it was time to reinvent herself.

Right at the end of her business, she was able to custom design an engagement ring.  She really loved the opportunity and that lead to another referral, and to another referral.    She then started working 1:1 with...

Are You Losing Out On Free Money?

I need someone to explain the latest phenomenon to me.  This whole, I need to get you off my email list, if you're not reading it consistently, thing.  I just don't get it.

I recently had John Lee Dumas (www.entrepreneuronfire.com) email me pretty incessantly asking me why I wasn't opening emails, and if I even really wanted to be on his list.  Then more emails about why I wasn't reading the ones asking me why I wasn't reading the other ones.  I have to admit that I was pretty annoyed, and if I hadn't been at a stop light when I read a few, I would have unsubscribed immediately.

Lucky for him, I was multitasking that day because I forgot about it when I got home.  Two months later I saw his Mastermind group offer, and I handed him $600 of my money (with potentially more to come).

Actually, let me just throw out a number:  $3100

That's how much money I have spent by seeing offers from emails I typically never read, in just the past six months.  You...

40 - Jason Earle Shares His AMAZING Entrepreneur Journey

To write show notes, would not even begin to do this story justice.  I'm not telling you what to do, but I'm telling you, you HAVE to listen to this show.

[powerpress]

I read about Jason 5 years ago in Entrepreneur Magazine, and was so inspired by his story of how he started 1-800 Got Mold.  As someone who is extremely passionate about rescuing animals, I found his business concept to be brilliant.  And it's honestly, something I think about almost every day...  How can you create something where you're doing something awesome for people, AND for dogs, AND you're making a living doing it?

The opportunity to talk to Jason was truly amazing, and he did not disappoint.  I sat through awe and amazement, through this entire interview, so I hope you'll take a listen and enjoy it as much as I did.   This story is seriously like a combination of The Pursuit of Happiness, A Man on a Mission, and the Ultimate Dog Rescuer!

Jason also gives great insight...

38 - Sunny Nunan of Core 24

I’ve known Sunny Nunan now for a long time, and I remember her telling us she was leaving her very cush corporate job to start something on her own.  I can’t believe it’s been five years now, and Sunny is doing so amazingly well.  She’s been featured on Forbes.com, and is getting ready to take her company, Core 24, outside of Dallas.  I was so honored that she stopped by to share her story of the start, and hopefully inspire someone else to take a leap without a plan b.

Core 24 is about helping people find services for mid market companies.  When they need find expertise in an area, they provide a list of service providers for them.  However, these providers need to go through an extensive approval process before Core 24 puts them in front of their customers.

Sunny’s background in sales helped her connect with other businesses.  However, she found this missing link in the marketplace.  So she started to create...

36 - Gary Leland - How He Built a Mini Empire Around One Extreme Niche

If you know anything about Fast Pitch Softball, then you definitely know the name Gary Leland.  He found a need when they had a hard time finding equipment when his daughters played competitively.  However, it's grown to so much more than just selling equipment.  Gary has made sure his name is attached to all things softball.  The way he built this business completely amazed me, and I wanted to bring him on to share his story.  Gary is also a pioneer in the podcasting world.  If he gets an idea for a business, he runs with it, no questions asked.  I can't say many people can honestly say they do that every time.

What is FastPitch.TV and how did it come to be? FastPitch.TV serves a very small niche; it is not just softball, its women’s softball and fast pitch women’s softball at that. FastPitch.TV puts out podcasts and books on training for women’s fast pitch softball as well as daily blog posts and video posts and a monthly...
